About Sterling Heights, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Sterling Heights, a suburb of Detroit located in Macomb County, Michigan, was incorporated in 1968, but first settled in the early 1820s. The area was known as good farming country, with crops including wheat, corn, apples and peaches. The William Upton House, built in 1866, is Sterling Heights' oldest home, and now houses public offices. By the 1880s, trains from the Detroit and Bay City Railroad passed through the town four times a day, and travelers were welcomed at the Utica Depot by the Romeo and Utica Stage Line. By the middle of the 20th century, Sterling Heights was a hub for automobile manufacturing, with the Chrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, LTV Missile and Briggs Manufacturing all opening plants in town. Today this city of around 130,000 residents is Michigan's fourth-largest city.
Sterling Heights kicks off its summer season, when its temperatures are mild and not too hot, with an annual Memorial Day parade. This is followed by the American Polish Festival and Craft Show in mid-July, which features polka music and dancing as well as plenty of Polish treats such as pierogis. Late July brings Sterlingfest, an art and music fair with a midway, food vendors, clowns, animal shows, magic shows, crafts and live music by local and national acts. Even in winter, Sterling Heights still puts on outdoor entertainment with its annual “Sterling Christmas” event featuring a carousel, pony rides, a petting zoo and plenty of warming fires to protect against the chilly weather.
