About Rochester Hills, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
The first settler in Rochester Hills, Michigan arrived in 1817, and the township organized under the name of Avon Hills in 1835. In 1978 it became Avon Charter Township, and in 1984 was incorporated as the city of Rochester Hills. The name was chosen to reflect the city's historic ties with neighboring Rochester, which had originated as a village within Avon Township, and also because of the area's rolling hills. Rochester Hills today is an affluent city of nearly 71,000 in Oakland County, and is considered part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The area, while suburban, still has ties to its agricultural past, and the city can boast two cider mills: the Yates Cider Mill, established in 1863, and the Rochester Cider Mill, which has been operating for over 30 years. Both establishments offer petting zoos and farm-themed children's activities in addition to fresh cider, apples and doughnuts.
Rochester Hills kicks off summer with a bang at its annual Festival of the Hills, which take place around the Fourth of July and features the second-largest fireworks display in the state. The Meadow Brook Music Festival features outdoor concerts throughout the summer, since the Southeast Michigan temperatures are moderate enough to make it possible to venture out of the air conditioning all season long. Winters may be chilly, but the Old Fashioned Christmas event sponsored by the Rochester Hills Museum draws visitors outdoors to take a wagon tour of the museum buildings and enjoy music, theater performances, craft activities and roasted chestnuts.
